Hey everyone,

So, here’s the deal: Life decided to throw me a double punch. My 2017 iMac 4k’s Fusion Drive finally died, and attempting to fix it again in the same way as before (formatting and re-fusing the fusion drive) doesn’t work anymore. I fear the HDD part of the SSD/HDD hybrid (fusion drive) is completely dead, and I am unable to afford a new Mac at the moment.

I’m also in the middle of fighting stage 4 cancer, which leaves me exhausted most days, so even if I had a working setup, that means I can’t stream sets or hang out with anyone for a while.

I’ve been using the mobile viewer, but unfortunately, it’s still pretty basic in its current state as I can’t interact with any object that uses a script dialog popup with button options for interactions. There is also no way to stream live mix sets into SL using an iPad Only. The only thing I can do on mobile is “Touch” or “Sit.” There’s no access to furniture for vehicle menus or anything really; I can’t even open my Linden Home’s doors.

I will continue to pop in on mobile from time to time, but I’m going to use the web viewer to return all my items from my home and to abandon my Linden Home as I can’t truly enjoy Second Life with the Mobile viewer in its current state, and I have no idea when I will get a new Mac and DJ setup again.

But here’s the thing, this is not the end. This is just a hiatus (again), an intermission in the story of my Second Life. I will come back again at some point—I always come back. I’m using this time to focus on healing, battling cancer, and rebuilding my setup as soon as I can afford to.

I want to thank every single person who’s been a part of my Second Life and DJ Career. Thank you to all who’ve danced, listened, or just sent love in the chat. Your support kept me going, and I’m hopeful to return again someday.

So, consider this a pause, not a goodbye. The beats are on hold, but they are far from over. I’ll see you on the other side.

Much Love, David.

    Firestorm? No, thank you!

Linden Lab recently added the Firestorm third-party viewer to the official downloads page on the Second Life website. I can’t say that I’m surprised, as Firestorm has quite the cult-like following wi
